Atmosphere side

Description:

An external reservoir provides a suitable quench medium on the atmosphere side of the seal face. The quench medium is unpressurized and is added without circulation (dead-end quench) on the atmosphere side of the seal face. Common quench media are liquids.

There is no circulation if the quench medium.

Common use:

• To eliminate icing on the atmosphere side of the seal face (e.g. prevent freezing of ambient humidity at the seal face)

Application example:

Sealing of cold fluids in vertical pumps with single-acting mechanical seals to prevent freezing of ambient humidity at the seal face.
