Process side (Seal chamber)

Description:

Permanent flushing of the seal chamber with a (foreign) medium from external source.

Common use:

• For solid containing media to be sealed
• In applications where sealing operation by the medium to be sealed itself is not possible
• To prevent underrun the vapor pressure of the medium to be sealed at the mechanical seal
• For cooling the process-side (inner) mechanical seal

Application example:

When sealing sewage sludge in pumps with single-acting mechanical seals, the seal chamber is permanently flushed with clean water from an external source, thus preventing clogging or blocking of the seal chamber or sealing components.
